Course Overview:
The Tactical Shotgun Level 1 course is designed to provide participants with the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to safely and effectively operate a tactical shotgun. This course is suitable for individuals with little to no prior experience with shotguns, as well as those looking to refresh their skills. The emphasis will be on developing proper shooting techniques, understanding the capabilities and limitations of the shotgun, and executing various tactical drills.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate safe handling and operation of a tactical shotgun.
2. Understand the basic principles of marksmanship specific to shotguns.
3. Perform reloads, malfunction clearances, and transitions efficiently.
4. Engage targets accurately at various distances using different shooting positions.
5. Execute tactical drills that simulate real-world scenarios.

 

Class Requirements:
1. Prerequisite:
- Participants must be at least 18 years old (or meet any legal age requirements set by local laws).

- Tactical Shotgun: Participants should bring a reliable pump-action or semi-automatic shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. It is recommended to have a shotgun with a capacity of at least five rounds.
- Eye and Ear Protection: Participants must have proper eye protection (shooting glasses) and hearing protection (earplugs or earmuffs) to ensure safety during live-fire exercises.
- Shell Pouches: If using a semi-automatic shotgun, participants should have magazine pouches capable of holding at least two spare magazines, shot cards, speed loaders etc. 
- Sling: A sling is highly recommended as it allows for easier weapon retention and transition between shooting positions.
- Clothing: Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities. Long pants, closed-toe shoes, and a hat are recommended. Clothing should allow for ease of movement and protection from hot brass.
- Water and Snacks: It is important to stay hydrated and energized throughout the course, so participants should bring an adequate supply of water and snacks.
 

 

Required Ammunition:

- Ammunition: Participants should bring a minimum of 200 rounds of birdshot ammunition, 50 rounds of buckshot ammunition, and 25 rounds of slug ammunition. It is important to use appropriate ammunition for the range being used.
- Ammunition must comply with local laws and regulations.

 

 Additional Info:

Please bring your own drinks and snacks. There is no lunch break though there will be time for snacks.
